YOGA BELIZEASY
At age 30, I was the least likely person to practice yoga, but a back injury limited my activity to swimming for two long years. Finally, my neurosurgeon in Raleigh, NC announced, "You are ready for yoga!" I was so grateful to graduate from swimming that I didn't even ask what yoga was. Thankfully, the yoga novelty lasted long enough to teach me that i could enjoy gardening, scuba diving, dancing, tennis, running and weight lifting with daily yoga practice.

Teaching never entered my mind until YogaFit teaching certification classes fulfilled my continuing ed requirements as an ACE (American Counsel on Exercise) personal trainer. Soon after, teaching yoga replaced personal training as my official side hustle. CorePower yoga training developed more teaching skills, especially with vinyasa flow and hands-on assists. I now have over 2400 teaching hours.

The social and mental health benefits of yoga helped me be a better mom, daughter and friend. Yoga helped me maintain a healthy weight, play sports and more....until....I was diagnosed with a congenital bilateral ankle condition, underwent two major surgeries in 2023, and spent 10 months barely moving. Just when everything was back to normal, a bicycle crash set back my recovery.

The biggest thing yoga has given me is gratitude, for everything. I'm grateful to be recovering. Even the days when my balance is off or a posture is illusive, I'm grateful to be standing on the mat.

At Yoga Belizeasy, we focus on the physical, social and mental health benefits of yoga, the gifts yoga has given me. Although we respect all of the other aspects of yoga, too, we focus on physical, social and mental heath.

We also partner with yoga teachers in Raleigh, NC to create yoga adventure retreats in Belize.

Thank you for reading a little about us. It will be fun getting to know you. See you on the mat!

With gratitude,
Susan Novak
